Job description

• The ideal candidate will Provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, tax planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the company and support the General Manager in the management of a financially sound and profitable organization.
• This position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for business planning including strategic plans, performance plans, annual budgets and forecasts
• Providing leadership in business performance management by working with cross functional teams to deliver action plans supporting short and long term strategies within the company and providing timely and accurate business analysis and reports to the Executive committee and the Board for decision making
• Reviewing and challenging capital investment requests to confirm viability and compliance with group rules, co-ordination with all functions on management and reporting of capital expenditure and responsibility for the design, operational effectiveness and documentation of the capex management business process
• Understanding of risks, development and implementation of mitigating controls as well as performing test checks on business continuity plans to ensure minimal business disruptions if/when they occur
• Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
• Leads the annual audit process and prepares board papers
• Overall responsibility for working capital management including maintaining an optimal inventory levels via purchasing and stock control functions and coordination with all heads of departments. This will also involve implementation of best working capital management practice
• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure optimum funding to support operations and growth of the company
• Effectively manage relationships with banks and other financiers such as leasing companies.
• Responsible for the management of the company’s insurance and risk management program and oversees the annual insurance renewal process
• Ensures safe custody of fixed assets and integrity of fixed assets records.
• In charge of tax planning and compliance for the company
• Mentor, couch and develop direct reports, optimal resource allocation, training, individual development planning and building an effective dynamic team
• Initiate and lead projects as assigned by General Manager

Qualifications and Experience

• University graduate with a professional accounting qualification (ACCA or equivalent). Possession of MBA is desirable
• Minimum of 7 years preferably in a busy commercial environment
• Strong appreciation of how decisions impact overall business; demonstrate knowledge of market and competition.
